Woodbind is a fitted drop-shoulder pullover with panels of ribbing down the sides and underarms, and columns of faux cables on the front and back. For this design I was inspired by the textures on the bark of old trees; the deep ridges and twisting of ivy vines are reflected in the ribbing and faux cable details. ‘Woodbind’ is an old rural name for wild vines that grow in hedgerows and up trees.

The body of the jumper is worked from the bottom up in the round; there are panels of 2x2 rib at the sides, flanked by columns of faux cables. After separating at the underarms, the front is worked flat with neck shaping, then the back is also worked flat and the shoulders are joined with a three-needle cast-off. The neckline is picked up and worked in the round, then folded double and stitched down. The sleeves are picked up from round the armholes and worked in the round with columns of ribbing at the underarms down to the cuff.
