Mendip is a 4-ply yarn spun in the UK from lambswool from a single flock of Shetland-cross sheep that graze the Mendip Hills in South-West England. It's bouncy, woollen-spun British wool that's perfect for stranded colourwork projects and knitting lightweight yet warm garments and accessories, including hats, mittens and shawls.
The yarn range is hand-dyed in semi-solid colours. I dye the same colour on both a naturally white and grey base, which gives tonal pairs: a light, bright hue and a darker, heathered, moody tone to complement it. This makes it easier to create rich, interesting colour palettes.
