The Leaf Nest hat is a beanie with a close fit and ascending lace and cables inspired by autumn leaves. It’s worked in the round from the bottom up, with a tubular cast-on for a neat, stretch edge to the ribbing. The brim and crown are worked in a pattern of alternating cables and simple lace.

Yarn: Marina Skua Mendip DK (120 m / 131 yd per 50 g skein)

Colour used for sample: Hibernate

35 (45, 55) g or 85 (110, 135) m / 95 (120, 147) yd

Gauge: 24 sts and 28 rounds = 10 cm / 4” in charted pattern in the round on larger needles, after blocking, unstretched

Needles:
3.5 mm / US 4 circular needle, 60 cm / 24” length (or size required to obtain correct gauge)
3.5 mm / US 4 double-pointed needles or longer circular needle for magic loop, if desired (or size required to obtain correct gauge)
3 mm / US 2.5 circular needle, 60 cm / 24” length (or needle 2 sizes smaller than main needle)

Notions: Scrap yarn, stitch markers, cable needle, darning needle for sewing in ends.
