Dutch Spotted x Suffolk – British wool carded sliver
Naturally coloured pure British wool carded sliver – approx. 50g.
The wool is from a friend's pet sheep just a couple of villages away here in south-west Wiltshire. The sheep are two beautiful Dutch Spotted x Suffolk ewes named Dilly and Whitney. I carefully sorted and skirted their fleeces, choosing only the best fibres. The wool is carded at Rampisham Hill Mill in Dorset.
This carded preparation is perfect for true woollen spinning with a backwards long draw, which will give a bouncy, airy yarn. The fibre has some rustic texture and is very springy. Whitney's wool is light grey, has a longer stable and is slightly coarser but is easier to spin fine and consistent. Dilly's is deep peppery charcoal with a shorter staple and a bit more bounce and crimp.
If multiple quantities are ordered of the same fibre these may be delivered as a single length.
