This top is inspired by the endless array of stars and galaxies captured by the Hubble telescope in the famous ‘Deep Field’ image. The little gradient in contrast colours creates the feel that some stars are farther away and dimmer.

This top is worked in the round from the bottom up. Stitches are placed on hold for the underarms, and steek stitches are cast on for the front neck and armholes, and later the back neck. The shoulders are joined with a three-needle cast-off. The steeks are reinforced and cut, and stitches are picked up and worked in ribbing for the neckband and armholes.
