Passant by Eliza Hinkes – the knitting kit

This listing is for a knitting kit containing all the fingering weight British wool yarn needed to make Passant, a fun checkered sweater by Eliza Hinkes. The Passant knitting pattern is available in Making Stories Issue 13 here - the knitting kit doesn't include the pattern.

Passant takes the traditional round shape of confetti and makes it super wearable – in the form of a checkered sweater, worked in two different shades of one colour! Bonus: The fun fringe added to the hem and cuffs!

Passant is knit bottom-up and in the round, with checkered colourwork throughout. A three-stitch faux seam along the sides of the sweater helps avoid colour jogs. The armholes and neckline are worked with steeks, and the sleeves are worked separately. Once all the knitting is done, the steeks are cut, and sleeves seamed in to create the drop-shoulder silhouette. A 1x1 neckband complements the sweater.

Included in this knitting kit:

  • 4 (5, 5, 5, 5) [6, 6, 6, 7, 7] skeins of hand-dyed Mendip DK in the main colour
  • 4 (4, 4, 5, 5) [5, 5, 6, 6, 7] skeins of hand-dyed Mendip DK in each of the 3 contrasting colours

Sample shown is knit in Yew (Cloudy) as the main colour and Bloom (Cloudy) as the contrasting colour. Francesca wears a size 3 with 1.75 cm / 0.75" of positive ease.
