Episode 59 of the podcast – Knitting cardigans, new publications, hand-spun yarn and a little bit of crochet

We're currently in the midst of extensive building work in the house, everything is chaos and there's a fair amount of knitting, designing and spinning to catch up on. I've been making reasonable progress with my latest cardigan designs, have had two knitting patterns published, I chose the winners of my Out of the Dark Make-Along and have been busy hand-dying plenty of my British Skua fibre for a big shop update.

Podcast show notes:

  • I'm wearing Galdor; an easy to wear, open cardigan with drop shoulders and mid-length sleeves, with stranded colourwork bands round the front edge and sleeve cuffs.
  • You can find my hand-dyed, British spinning fibre here. Patrons get exclusive early access to shop updates, or you can sign up for the newsletter to hear of any new releases and shop updates when they go live.
  • The red saddle shoulder cardigan I am currently designing is knit using Rauma Finull in the colour 4120; knitting pattern to be released at some point in the future.
  • I'm still working on my new knit design; the Scrumper Cardigan, based on my existing Scrumper Waistcoat. I'm using John Arbon Textiles Appledore DK in the colour Sweet Coppin for the cardigan and you can find the knitting pattern to the original Scrumper Waistcoat here
  • The video tutorial on knitting sleeves two at a time can be found on my Patreon.
  • I'm exhibiting and giving a talk at the John Arbon Textiles Mill Open Weekend, 8th–9th June
  • In case you didn't know, I designed a knitted cardigan for Making Stories Issue 11. Welanna is a top down cardigan, knit flat, with compound raglan increases. It has a deep V-neck which transitions into a boxy, slightly cropped body and features cables running down the center of the back and down the flared sleeves. Copies of Making Stories Magazine are now available on the website
  • The video tutorial on making yarn from scrappy bits of fibre can be found on my Patreon.
  • I'm crocheting! I've been hooking up The Contour Headband by To Be Adorned using the leftover Mendip DK I used for my Lapidarium. If you'd like to crochet one for yourself, it uses one skein of my Mendip DK hand dyed yarn.
