From New Year to the Spring Equinox (1st January–20th March), join me in making and sharing craft projects using Marina Skua yarn, knitting patterns or spinning fibre for a chance to win prizes.
The Out of the Dark Make-Along is a way to connect with other makers and enjoy some knitting, spinning, crochet, weaving – whatever's your favourite yarn craft – during the darkest time of year in the northern hemisphere.

How to take part
To join, make any project using Marina Skua hand-dyed yarn, patterns or fibre (and yes, spinning yarn is a project in itself!), and share it online while the make-along is running. Works in progress are welcome if you'd like motivation to get those projects off the needles.
Share on Instagram
Share photos of your project on your Instagram grid from a public account using the hashtag #OutOfTheDarkMAL2025, and tagging @marinaskua in your photo. If you only tag in the caption, or post from a private account, I won't be able to find your post when it comes to drawing prizes!
Join in on Patreon
You can join in on the chat directly on my Patreon, and there is a dedicated channel for the make-along on my Discord server, which is open to my supporters on Patreon. Post photos and chat about your project in the channel to enter.
You're welcome to post on Instagram and in the channel pages to double your chances of winning!
Win prizes for sharing your yarn crafts
Prizes will be from a variety of lovely crafty businesses, including Marina Skua. Winners will be drawn at the end of January, end of February, and after the make-along finishes in late March.

Queue up your project
The make-along begins 1st January – I'll be kicking us off with a live session on Instagram at midday GMT.
In last year's make-along I knitted a Lapidarium yoke for myself in my hand-dyed Mendip DK yarn – I made one the previous year for my husband!
