This Fibre Winter Mystery Box is designed as a joyful advent experience, the perfect Christmas gift for a knitting friend or loved one, or just a nice treat for yourself to see you crafting throughout the cold months. Each mystery box contains four individually wrapped 100g braids of my hand-dyed British wool Skua blend spinning fibre, dyed in a harmonious palette of four limited edition colours.

What is included in the Winter Mystery Box?
This is a fibre-only box, so your mystery box will contain four 100g braids of Skua blend hand-dyed British wool tops in surprise limited edition colourways. Each braid is individually wrapped and numbered should you wish to use it as a fun fibre advent calendar to open throughout December.
Skua blend is 100% British wool top: the breeds are Teeswater, Cheviot, Manx Loaghtan, Jacob and Dorset Horn. Blended together they create a top that is delightful to spin from: just the right balance of grippy and smooth to make drafting a joy.
Can I see the colourways included in the Mystery Box before purchasing?
Nope, the fun is in the surprise! I can tell you that the palette is fairly moody, as it's dyed in low-contrast variegation and semi-solid colours on my naturally dark Skua blend wool top.
The colourways are a surprise designed to compliment one another beautifully. However, if you prefer your surprises to be a little less… surprising, and you would like an idea of the mood and general palette, you can take a look at my moodboard here.
Why are the fibre braids individually wrapped and numbered?
I really like the idea of using the Winter Mystery Box as a fibre advent calendar. Four packages mean one new hand-dyed braid of spinning fibre to unwrap each week in December. However, the numbered parcels are just a fun way to pace your unwrapping, so if you don’t celebrate advent, or you want to dive in and start spinning straight away, feel free to unwrap them all at once if you can’t wait!
Is there enough fibre for a full craft project?
Yes! The mystery box contains four 100g braids of spinning fibre – so 400g total – providing plenty for a decent-sized project once spun.
I also love the thought that, depending on how much spinning time December offers, you could have a beautiful new bundle of fresh skeins of hand-spun yarn to cast on by Christmas Day (or maybe join in the Out of the Dark Make-Along starting 1st January).
Are the braids colour-coordinated?
The colourways are designed to complement one another in a harmonious colour palette, so they will work beautifully together if you want to use them in a larger project. There are some lighter and some darker colours, and some pops of colour alongside more neutral shades. And the colours are all dyed on my naturally coloured Skua blend wool top, which gives a cohesive, slightly muted look to the palette.
Can I purchase more than one box?
Yes, you’re welcome to purchase more than one box should you like more fibre, however, each will have the same colourways, so they won’t differ between boxes.
Can I send the Winter Mystery Box as a Christmas gift?
Absolutely! I think the individually wrapped braids make it perfect for gifting and would make any spinning enthusiast’s Christmas. Simply provide the crafters' address at checkout, and I’ll take care of the rest.
I recommend using the 'Add a greetings card' option, which will include one of my illustrated cards in the parcel. If you want me to write a note in the card for the recipient, please include your message in the 'special instructions' box when you check out. If this is left empty, the card will be sent blank for you to write your own message.
