Episode 51 of the Marina Skua podcast – Batts and hand-spun yarn, fibre everywhere

In which I discover that my Scrumper Waistcoat design can be worn as a summer top (so I'm knitting another one!), and do a little bit of fibre prep (pre-drafting a batt) for a special hand-spun yarn project.

I'm wearing Galdor and Dryopteris. The yarn for Galdor is from Woolly Mammoth Fibres, and the yarn for Dryopteris is Vintage 20 4-Ply from Wool Decanted.

I'm knitting a Scrumper Waistcoat in yarn from  @kattweaver .

I'm also knitting the Leoma Shawl with a variation on the stripe pattern.

I'm planning to use the grey yarn I'm spinning for a Mistland Cardigan.

The batt in my hand-spun project is from Sealy MacWheely. The two lots of combed tops are from John Arbon Textiles: Devonia in Sage Sprig and a limited edition called Nasturtium.

@TinyFibreStudio  has some excellent videos on the more technical side of hand-spinning, from how to start spinning to details on specific methods. I found the one on worsted spinning very useful: https://youtu.be/-gQQ11qgWwg

The Nettle Dress, an amazing project by Allan Brown.

I had a visit from  @kattweaver  and we carded up some batts; go and check out Katt's podcast episode.
