Episode 62 of the podcast – Autumn is basically here so let's knit all the cosy wool layers

This one's a bit of a 'here are things I've got in the shop' update, but I promise you'll want to hear about it! So many lovely knitting and fibre related things that I'm excited to share with you including the results of my latest hand dyed yarn experiments, new colours of British wool top and a sneak peek of a brand new wool fibre blend.

Podcast show notes:

  • I'm wearing the Amber Apple cardigan; a wonderfully dramatic v-neck cardigan, a modern take on a vintage vibe. This knit design has an unusual construction and is worked top-down with the button band worked at the same time. It has a v-neck, herringbone saddle shoulders and cuffs, and dramatically puffed sleeves which I love! I knit this one using Rowan Pebble Island in the shade Macaroni. You can find the Amber Apple Cardigan knitting pattern on my website or on Ravelry.
  • Underneath I'm wearing the cropped version of my Scrumper Waistcoata textured waistcoat with cables and moss stitch details that is great for layering. I knit this in a beautiful, local rustic yarn from @kattweaver that I dyed with wode seeds from my old garden. The buttons are some wonderful yew buttons by Tom Dyson Woodworking. You can find the Scrumper Waistcoat knitting pattern on my website or on Ravelry.
  • Speaking of, I've just added these lovely handmade wooden buttons by Tom to the shop. They are beautiful buttons, so I'm so pleased to be stocking them. Let me know if you're interested in seeing more...
  • My latest knitting pattern release is the Bournlet Headband, a fun little cabled headband that's designed to be knitted with whatever yarn you have in your stash. It’s worked flat, beginning with a provisional cast-on and a small section of ribbing for the back of the head. It’s then worked in very simple, easy-to-remember cable pattern until the desired length, then the ends are grafted together. You can find the Bournlet Headband knitting pattern on my website or on Ravelry.
  • I'm designing the cardigan for my 'From This Land' Westcountry Collection of knitting patterns with rustic yarn from Gullet Farm in South Devon. The collection is being made possible by some funding from South West England Fibreshed.
  • I got some yarn i'll likely be knitting an accessory with from Bec at The Woven Briar. She has beautiful yarn and hand-woven items and I'm looking forward to knitting some up to try out.
  • Making Stories Issue 12 is available to pre-order here.
  • You can find my limited edition skeins of hand dyed Mendip 4-ply yarn here. DK weights are also available in certain colour ways.
  • You can find my hand-dyed, British spinning fibre herePatrons get exclusive early access to shop updates, or you can sign up for the newsletter to hear of any new releases and shop updates when they go live. My wool top is prepared for me by Wingham Wool Work (who have also kindly provided the spinning starter set that I'm giving away in this video).
  • The video tutorial on how I am processing nettles can be found on my Patreon
